I am engaged in
a study of the book of Nehemiah as part of a women’s Bible study at my church. The
study is by Kelly Minter and I wanted to share some of her words of wisdom that
I find comforting. "Perhaps you need to be reminded today that God sees
where you are and hears your cry... One of the worst things we can believe
about God during a season of hardship is that we have somehow escaped His view
or His hearing. He is the God who sees (El Roi) and the God who responds."
Her words also bring to mind one of my favorite psalms, Psalm 139. Here are a
few verses: “LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down
and when I stand up; You understand my thoughts … You observe my travels and my
rest; You are aware of all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, You know all
about it, LORD. You have encircled me; You have placed Your hand upon me. This
extraordinary knowledge is beyond me … “ (verses 1-6*). We are intimately known by our heavenly
Father. As both Kelly Winter and the
psalmist David remind us, God sees where we are, hears us, and responds to
us. Be encouraged.
