The floods and our Father

I woke up this morning to rain, and not a gentle patter. It was a hard shower accompanied by loud thunder. It continued to rain as I read Psalms 92 as part of my feed-my-spirit-time, in preparation for today. I was captivated by the following verses:

The LORD reigns, He is clothed in majesty.
The LORD is clothed,
He has girded Himself with strength...
Your throne is established from of old;
You are from everlasting.

The floods have lifted up, O LORD
The floods have lifted up their waves.
The LORD on high is mightier
Than the noise of many waters,
Than the mighty waves of the sea."

I exhaled a breath I did not even know I was holding.

The LORD reigns. His throne is established from of old. He is from everlasting. He is mightier than the floods.  Selah.

Whatever this day holds, whatever shape the floods may take today - rejection, criticism, stress, hurt, anxiety, temptation - the LORD who reigns, and has made you and I His own, He is mightier than the floods. Furthermore, He has promised to be with us when we pass through the waters and through the rivers, and assures us that neither will overflow us (Isaiah 43:2).  Thank You, Abba.

Be encouraged siblings and remind the floods that your Father reigns.
